Image Information
Description
An illustration for a hypothetical play based on the novel "To Kill a Mockingbird." I wanted to use the main symbolic elements in the story differently than past illustrators. I imagined Scout (the main character) as an older woman, who has grown out of her "tomboy" phase. Her long hair becomes a part of the oak tree that she treasured as a child. The mockingbird is pecking away at the pocket watch, signaling the passing of time and innocence. I used warm colors to give it a summery, Southern feel.
